Cashi privacy policy
Effective 17 October 2026 · Applies to the Cashi app for Android (app.getcashi)
Cashi helps e-wallet partner outlet owners and their staff record cash-in, cash-out, bills payment and load transactions, track their float, and see the markup they earn. This policy explains what information Cashi handles and where it goes. In short: your business records stay on your phone. Cashi has no account server and does not send your records to us.
Cashi is made by JamS1t Studio, the developer named on Cashi’s Google Play listing (“we”, “us”).
Information you put in Cashi
Cashi stores the following only on the phone it is installed on, in the app’s private storage:
- Your name, mobile number, e-wallet number, store name and location, and outlet number you enter during setup.
- Staff names you add, and their PINs. PINs are never stored as typed; Cashi keeps only a salted, one-way hash of each PIN.
- Transactions: amount, type, date and time, reference number, markup, notes, and who recorded it.
- Daily opening and closing balances, gaps, reports and your markup rate settings.
- A sealed change log of edits, used to show whether records were changed outside the app.
Receipt photos and scanning
When you scan receipts, you choose photos or screenshots, or take one with the camera. Cashi reads the text on the phone using Google ML Kit’s on-device text recognition. The images and the text read from them are not uploaded by Cashi. Cashi only gets access to the photos you pick, and keeps a copy of each scanned image on the phone with its transaction.
Information collected by Google services inside Cashi
Cashi uses two Google components that may send limited technical data to Google:
- Google ML Kit (receipt reading) may send diagnostic and usage information to Google, such as device model, Android version, app version, a per-installation identifier, performance figures and error codes. It does not send your receipt images or their text. See Google’s ML Kit data disclosure.
- Google Play Billing handles the optional Cashi Pro purchase. Payment is made to Google; Cashi never sees your card, GCash or other payment details. Cashi only learns whether your Google account owns Cashi Pro.
Cashi contains no advertising, no analytics of its own, and no tracking across apps or websites.
Backups
Cashi keeps automatic backup copies of its records on the phone, and once a week saves a copy to your phone’s Downloads/Cashi folder (Android 10 and newer) so the records survive if the app is removed. You can also save or restore a copy yourself in Settings › Data & backup. Copies saved to Downloads are made only once you have a recovery code. They are encrypted with it, carry no PINs, and can’t be opened or changed without that code, so keep the code private. Exported PDF and CSV files are not encrypted.
If your phone has a screen lock and Android backup is on for your Google account, Android may also include Cashi’s records (not receipt photos) in your phone’s Google backup, end-to-end encrypted, so they can return on a new phone. You can turn this off in your phone’s Settings › Google › Backup. Files you export (PDF or CSV) are saved to Downloads/Cashi or shared to the app you choose; after that, they are under your control.
Sharing
We do not sell or share your information. Cashi only sends something out of the app when you choose to, for example when you share a report or send us feedback by email.
Cashi counts on the phone how often its screens and features are used (for example screens opened, receipts scanned, days closed). These counts contain no amounts, names, numbers or receipt text, and they never leave the phone by themselves. When you tap Send feedback, they are added to the bottom of the email so you can read them, delete them, or send them with your message.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera app (opened only when you choose to take a photo; Cashi has no camera permission) | Photographing a receipt to scan it |
| Notifications | Reminders to open and close the day, which you can turn off |
| Run at startup | Re-setting your reminders after the phone restarts |
| Fingerprint / face | Optional sign-in instead of the owner PIN |
| Google Play billing | The optional Cashi Pro purchase |
| Internet | Used only by Google ML Kit diagnostics and Google Play Billing; Cashi sends none of your records |
Keeping and deleting your data
Your records stay on your phone for as long as you keep them. To delete everything, uninstall Cashi or clear its storage in your phone’s Settings › Apps › Cashi, then delete the Downloads/Cashi folder with your phone’s Files app. Because we hold no copy of your records, we cannot recover them for you and have nothing to delete on our side. To remove a copy from your Google backup, delete it in your Google account’s backup settings.
Security
Cashi is locked with your PIN (and optionally your fingerprint), locks itself after 5 minutes away, keeps PINs only as salted hashes, and seals its change log with a key kept in the phone’s secure hardware. Anyone who knows your PIN or can unlock your phone and Cashi can see your records, so keep your PIN private.
Children
Cashi is a business tool for adults and is not directed at children under 13.
Not affiliated with GCash
Cashi is an independent app. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with GCash, G-Xchange, Inc. or Mynt. GCash is a trademark of its owner. Cashi does not connect to your GCash account.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
